We call on volunteers to build stronger communities
Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria is calling on all Victorians who are leading the way to a sustainable and community-strong future to join its Stationeers Program.
Themed Better Together, this year’s National Volunteer Week held on 16-22 May 2022, serves as a reminder of the vital role that volunteering contributes to building communities and creating a better society for everyone.
Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria CEO Olivia Lynch is proud to launch the new volunteer recruitment campaign for Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria’s Stationeers Program run in partnership with the Department of Transport, Metro Trains, V/Line, VicTrack and PTV.
“We recognise Stationeers volunteers as an integral part to enhancing and protecting our local environment, whilst creating resilient and vibrant communities. Our dedicated volunteers beautify and enhance station precincts across Victoria, and I thank them for their support. We are ‘Better Together’,” added Ms Lynch.
The Stationeers volunteers take action across Victoria to beautify stations and connect with local community.
Wendy Lake, Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria Volunteers Manager, says that volunteering provides people with an opportunity to work with others who share a passion for the environment and a sense of community pride and responsibility for the local area.
“Stationeers are a fun way to connect with others in your community through activities such as weeding, mulching, planting and other maintenance undertakings at local railway stations.
“Those involved in the program are creating a welcoming and thriving environment for residents and wildlife,” explained Ms Lake.
You can work better together to keep your patch of Victoria beautiful, sustainable and thriving by getting involved today.
