Vale James (Jim) Douglass

James (Jim) Douglass was an outstanding human being. He was passionate about the Mooroopna community.

Keep Victoria Beautiful (KVB) would like to express our deepest gratitude for his contribution to Victoria. He was part of Tidy Towns Awards for more than 15 years.

Jim worked tirelessly to promote the work carried out by the communities of Greater Shepparton and the City of Mooroopna. Jim always worked to help children and youth develop through education and recreation.

In the course of his work with the Kiwanis service club Jim introduced the Early Learning is Fun program to Greater Shepparton to start families reading together from an early age. He worked on committees to improve facilities for toddlers in kindergartens and children in primary schools. He helped learner drivers to log enough driving hours to go for their driver’s licence test.

The Mooroopna Secondary College Principal, Gary Fletcher, said in 2014 “Jim is passionate and utterly committed to the community and that his work at Mooroopna has been outstanding”. Jim’s total commitment has been to giving young people the best opportunities to succeed in life… most importantly he is passionate about Mooroopna; his love and devotion to this community is amazing.”

These are just some examples of his passion to assist young people. Jim always believed that with education and guidance young people could be successful in adult life. Jim will be remembered as an outstanding person and we sincerely thank him for all his efforts to help Keep Victoria Beautiful.
