Vale Don Johns

Keep Victoria Beautiful (KVB) would like to acknowledge the wonderful work that Don Johns undertook during his life.

Don Johns was an incredible supporter of KVB’s Tidy Town Awards in Victoria.

Sabina Wills, CEO of KVB believes that he was one of the most inspiring volunteers in Australia. She said, ‘Don was an inspiration to the KVB team. He was passionate about Horsham and Victoria and an outstanding Australian. His consistent support of KVB has been nothing short of incredible. We know that because of his efforts, Horsham will continue to help Keep Victoria Beautiful for many years to come.’

Don was a Life Member of KVB, recognised with an Order of Australia Medal and a Centenary Medal. He was the Chairman of the Horsham Tidy Towns Committee for more than 30 years. During his time as Chairman, Horsham was voted Australia’s tidiest town in 2001 and Victoria’s tidiest town seven times. He was awarded the prestigious Dame Phyllis Frost award in 2010.

Don was a key part of community life in Horsham for over 40 years. Don was a councillor, mayor and president of numerous sporting, local government and community organisations. For many years he played the role of community pharmacist, and was a loving father and husband.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank him for his dedication to Tidy Towns, Keep Victoria Beautiful and to Horsham. Please head to our Tidy Towns archive to learn more about the work that Don performed in Horsham.
